Do I have to participate for the full duration of the event?
You don't have to swim or rally for the full duration of the event individually, but one member of each team must be in the pool or on court at all times during the event. For example, depending on your ability you might swim 200m, 1km or 10kms through-out the event or play for 13 minutes, 2 hours or on and off throughout the night.
Can I use a floatation device?
The use of floatation or training devices are not permitted unless approved by MS.
A floatation device is defined as (but not limited to):
- Kick boards
- Swimming noodles
- Pull buoys
The use of a floatation device will be granted to people living with multiple sclerosis automatically. To gain permission for use of a floatation device, simply fill out the Floatation Device Application form and someone from MS will be in touch.
Are there rules and safety requirements?
Safety first. If you haven't been well in the lead up to the event we recommend checking in with your doctor. All event rules and safety requirements can be found in our Event Guide
What is the role of a Team Captain?
The role of the Team Captain is to recruit team members; urge team members to encourage their friends, colleagues and family to get involved; roster the team through-out the 24/12 hours and motivate the team to fundraise in support of people living with multiple sclerosis.
How many people can I have on my team?
Each event will have varying numbers for maximum amount of team members.

What should I do if I want to register more than one person, e.g. a child?
Each participant will need a separate email to register. If someone in your team does not have an email (eg. a child), please contact our Supporter Engagement Team

During the 24 hours do I have to bring my own food?
It is always best to bring your personal choice of nourishment to a swim. However, at most swims food by way of a self-service food table with basic food, BBQ or venue cafe is available. If participants have specific dietary requirements, we recommend they take this into consideration in your planning. Also remember if participating at night the cafe may be closed and only vending machines available.
I do not have a team - how do I join one?
If you don’t have a team, please register as an individual and we will find you a team to join. There are a number of teams who don't have 15 people and are eager for more!
Is there supervision throughout the event for participants under the age of 18?
It is the responsibility of the guardian(s) of participants under the age of 18, to ensure they are adequately supervised throughout the event.
Are people with MS eligible for free entry?
Yes, people with MS are eligible for free entry by contacting our Supporter Engagement Team.
MY MEGA SWIM FOR MS
WHAT IS MY MEGA SWIM FOR MS?
Whether you're just learning to swim, a seasoned ocean swimmer or somewhere in-between, this challenge is for you. As this is a 'virtual' challenge, you can take part from anywhere, your local beach, river, pool or ocean. You pick the location and challenge that suits you.
WHERE IS THE EVENT TAKING PLACE?
There is no set location for the event, you pick the time and place that works for you. You also don't need virtual reality goggles for this virtual event. If you can safely swim at a location, you can take on the challenge there!
I'M BUSY ON 27-28 NOVEMBER, CAN I STILL JOIN?
While most of us will be taking part on Saturday 27 and Sunday 28 November, you are welcome to pick dates that suit you. Your challenge page will be open from 10am Monday 01 November through to 11.59pm Sunday 19 December 2021.
HOW DO I CREATE A TEAM?
When you begin the registration process you will see an option to 'Create a Team'. If you would like to invite your friends, family and colleagues to join your team you can do so within your dashboard.
HOW DO I JOIN A TEAM?
During registration, you will be able to search for the team you'd like to join.
Once registered, search for the team you'd like to join, and simply click on the Join Us button on the team page while logged in to your own account. This will automatically connect you to the team.
If a team is set up as invite only, you will need to contact the Team Captain and request that they send you an invite to join their team.
DOES ALL MY TEAM NEED TO BE IN THE SAME LOCATION?
No, the beauty of this event is that you can take part from any where! You could join your friends or family taking part in the event within another state. Simply fundraise and log your laps on your challenge dashboard.
HOW DO I LOG MY KMS SWUM?
- Log in to your MS Mega Challenge dashboard
- Select My Fitness Activity
- Under Add Activity, enter the date and distance swum (in metres)
