2022 My Mega Challenge for MS

Aside from looking forward to taking part in a virtual fundraising challenge at the end of November, I’m taking part to raise funds to support people living with multiple sclerosis.

Multiple sclerosis affects more young people than any other chronic neurological condition and average age of diagnosis is 30. It can strike anyone at any time and the symptoms vary so widely.

For instance, can you imagine waking up one day unable to do the everyday things you would usually take for granted? Like not being able to see properly (or at all), you physically can’t get out of bed, can’t walk to the phone to call someone – anyone – or live a life without pain?

All of a sudden your world has changed.

By being part of this event, and because of your generous sponsorship, the funds we raise will allow people living with multiple sclerosis to access vital MS Support Services. Services such as MS Peer Support, connecting people who are newly diagnosed with those who have lived with multiple sclerosis for a number of years, or the MS Employment Support program keeping Aussies living with multiple sclerosis in the work force.

Thank you again for your support.

Challenge Completed! Goal Reached!

Monday 28th Nov

I’m happy to announce that I completed the challenge! On Saturday morning I started my challenge at 7:30am and sewed my Sunshine Crossbody bag for the entire 12 hours! I didn’t have enough time to finish the bag in the 12 hour challenged so I was back at my machine on Sunday finishing it off.

I want to say a huge thank-you to everyone who donated and supported me along the way. With a particular mention to my mum who helped me reach my donation goal. Also to Spence who helped me get through the day with drinks and snacks. As well as encouragement throughout the challenge.

I’ll be selling the bag in my Etsy store and donating the money to MS Plus. So if you still want to donate it might be the perfect way. Now time to start planning for next years challenge!

Only a few days left…

Thursday 24th Nov

First and foremost I’d like to send a huge thank-you to everyone who has donated and supported me in this challenge! Every little bit goes towards helping people with MS so thank-you!

I’m all prepared and ready to go - at least I hope so. 😅 The challenge is this weekend so I’m starting to feel quite nervous. I’ve set up a facebook event on my Pedlar Creative page so that you can check in on me as I complete the challenge.

At the end I’m going to sell the bag, with the proceeds going to charity. It will all make a difference in the end!

Cut out and almost ready to go!

Tuesday 15th Nov

So there’s only a couple of weeks left until the challenge starts and I feel like I’m on track! Since my last update I’ve gotten all of my pattern pieces cut out and interfaced. I’ve also cut out the foam but still need to do the fusible webbing.

Next up on my list is choosing my hardware. I’ve already decided on the denim like zipper with silver teeth so it looks like the colour is silver! And I just have to use the flower zipper heads - they are just perfect with the fabric. 👌

I’m hoping to film the entire challenge live on my Pedlar Creative Facebook page. That way you can check in on how I’m doing throughout the 12 hour challenge. It’s obviously a secondary task so I’m hoping to start prepping for that soon.

And the winner is…

Tuesday 8th Nov

I would love to tell you it was a close race but it wasn’t. There is no doubt that the winning fabric combination is B 🏆with almost 100% of the votes! It’s definitely my favourite 😍 and will make a beautiful Sunshine Crossbody Pouch.

So with the challenge a couple of weeks away I’m currently cutting out and interfacing my material. It’s probably not my favourite task but it needs to be done.

The next job after that is collecting my hardware and zippers. And then I will be concentrating on setting up my filming equipment and doing some tests. I’m hoping to film the whole challenge live on my facebook page PedlarCreative. So I’ll keep you posted!

Which fabric set should I choose?

Wednesday 2nd Nov

Which fabric set should I choose?

Thanks to everyone who has sponsored me! Your contributions not only inspire me to complete this challenge but also make a huge difference to people with MS! So Thank-you!

The past week I’ve been going through my fabric stash to find the perfect combination for the Sunshine Crossbody Pouch. I’ve managed to narrow down my options to these two.

This is where I ask you for your help? Which one would you choose - A or B?

The finished Pouch will be sold in my Etsy Store and the money will be donated to MS Plus.

MS Sewing Mega Challenge

Thursday 27th Oct

Sewing has played a very important role in my life since being diagnosed with MS. It helped keep me together whilst the rest of my world seemed to be falling apart. Sewing has become my daily world now. It keeps me constantly busy - with new things to learn or projects to start or finish.

Before MS I used to raise money for charity by walking. But that’s not something I’m able to do anymore. So I’m thrilled that I’ve got the opportunity to challenge myself and my sewing for MS. And to help wonderful organisations like MS Plus who do so much for the MS Community.

What’s my challenge?

* I will be sewing and making a bag for 12 hours!

* I’ll be making Bagstock Designs; Sunshine Crossbody Pouch.

* Some preparations will be made prior to the challenge starting. I’ll have already chosen and cut out my fabric pieces. As well as ironing/sewing on all interfacings and stabilisers. That means that on the day - I can start sewing straight away.

* I will need to take some small breaks throughout the day but will endeavour to keep these to a minimum.

Please support me in my MS Sewing Mega Challenge by donating to this worthy cause.

Thank you to my Sponsors
