I definitely am not a Squad Swimmer!

I was scheduled to swim for up to half an hour yesterday (Saturday), with the knowledge that an Squad Member from the pool could take my slot.
So is my middle name Murphy?
Absolutely!
Walked the just over one kilometres to the pool, to see a Squad Member arrive and take the slot.
No further slots available over the weekend.
I will be in Canberra and available to swim from Wednesday onwards.
Currently have a Thursday mid afternoon slot booked.
So how just far can I swim during the set weekend, as Sydney Rotary President Mark advised that swimming in a bath cannot be included?
Apparently the starting block of 0 was correct!
We also have Squad Members from Singleton (Upper Hunter Valley) also scheduled to swim and have been on flood alert.
I assume that they also have not been able to swim.

MS My Mega Swim by Roni Corne

Only nine days until I hit the water, for the first time in over eighteen months!
Things to remember:
1) Wet the inside of the that goes on the head, prior to putting it on the head, otherwise I will need to sink, rather than swim, to retrieve it from the bottom of the pool.
No jokes - I actually forgot to do that at the Sydney Pool, with some of the team then considering that I really could not swim!
2) Remember that I do not need to swim for twenty four hours.
Oh goody as otherwise I will be on my back just kicking my legs.
Would I do that in an emergency, when no one is available to swim during the twenty hours? Only good memories can accurately answer that question.
3) Know that as difficult it may be for me to swim as a result of cerebral palsy, know that it is much harder for many with the degenerative MS, and they continue to swim with the hope that each stroke enriches their life.

Folks, every dollar you donate enhances the life of someone with MS.
Whether it is contacting the Call Centre for information or understanding; receiving a Go for Go Gold Scholarship, enabling their life.
You by donating have changed the life of a person.
And at the same time, Roni Corne has had some fun plus attempted to push her body in an activity that she does not excel.
Who would think that a person could receive Gold from Roni's swimming!
You did!
Thank You for donating.

I'M TAKING THE CHALLENGE TO FIGHT MS!

Aside from looking forward to joining others in the fun and atmosphere on the day, I’m taking part to raise funds to support people living with multiple sclerosis.

Multiple sclerosis affects more young people than any other chronic neurological condition and average age of diagnosis is 30. It can strike anyone at any time and the symptoms vary so widely.

For instance, can you imagine waking up one day unable to do the everyday things you would usually take for granted? Like not being able to see properly (or at all), you physically can’t get out of bed, can’t walk to the phone to call someone – anyone – or live a life without pain?

All of a sudden your world has changed.

By being part of this event, and because of your generous sponsorship, the funds we raise will allow people living with multiple sclerosis to access vital MS Support Services. Services such as MS Peer Support, connecting people who are newly diagnosed with those who have lived with multiple sclerosis for a number of years, or the MS Employment Support program keeping Aussies living with multiple sclerosis in the work force.

Thank you again for your support.
